The Syrian Technical Delegation Meets with the Acting Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Sudan
Within the framework of enhancing bilateral relations between the Syrian Arab Republic and the Republic of Sudan, an official meeting was held on 5 August 2025 between the Syrian technical delegation, headed by Mr. Mohammad Abdulsalam, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Sudan, represented by His Excellency Ambassador Ahmad Yousef, Acting Undersecretary of the Ministry, Ambassador Abdul Azim Al-Karori, Director of Arab Affairs, and Ambassador Onur Ahmad, Director of Consular Affairs. The meeting took place at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Port Sudan.
During the meeting, the two sides reviewed the historical relations binding the two brotherly countries and reaffirmed the importance of advancing cooperation and coordination across various fields.
The discussions also highlighted the importance of reopening the Syrian diplomatic mission in Sudan. Ambassador Yousef affirmed his country’s readiness to provide the necessary facilities to enable the mission to resume its functions.
The Acting Undersecretary reiterated the Sudanese government’s keenness to provide all possible facilities for Syrians in Sudan, including exemptions from penalties for the late renewal of residence permits and the issuance of the required permits for inter-state movement.
The two sides further agreed on the importance of creating a favorable environment for the return of Syrian businessmen and strengthening economic and investment cooperation between the two countries. In this regard, the Sudanese side welcomed the Syrian businessmen, stressing that the Sudanese market is fully open to them for reopening their factories and marketing their products, while expressing a genuine desire to promote mutual economic partnerships.
Finally, the two sides discussed the situation of Syrian students in Sudan and emphasized the provision of necessary support to facilitate the continuation of their studies and the recognition and authentication of their academic certificates.
