Dear Syrian Nationals Residing in the State of Libya

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the Syrian Arab Republic is pleased to inform Syrian nationals residing in the State of Libya that a technical consular delegation will be visiting to provide on-site consular services and facilitate consular procedures, as the Syrian Arab Republic proceeds with steps to reopen its Embassy in the State of Libya in the near future.
This delegation’s mission is to regularize the legal status of Syrian nationals residing in Libya and to address their consular needs.

All the services are free including:

1. Passport Validity Extension

  • Extension will be granted for one year only.

  • The expired passport must be presented.

  • Personal appearance of the applicant, or the presence of a first-degree relative, is required.

2. Issuance of a Laissez-Passer (Travel Document)

  • The document authorizes a single journey to the Syrian Arab Republic.

  • The document is valid for 60 days, for travel by air or land.

  • Presentation of a valid identification document is required (a Libyan-issued birth certificate will be accepted).

  • Personal appearance of the applicant, or the presence of a first-degree relative, is required.

  • Two up-to-date, identical personal photographs must be submitted.

  • (Note: The Laissez-Passer does not cover the cost of the travel ticket).

3. Authentication of Official Documents

  • Documents must be legalized either by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the Syrian Arab Republic or by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the State of Libya.

Important Notices

  • The delegation will begin its work at the temporary office located at Tripoli International Fair, Omar Al Mukhtar Avenue, on Friday, 01/08/2025, from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
    For the following days, services will be available daily from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

  • The delegation confirms that services are provided directly to nationals without intermediaries or proxies.

  • The delegation reiterates that it has no website, no external offices, and no representatives authorized to facilitate its work.

-In order to ensure the provision of high-quality services to Syrian nationals and to avoid overcrowding, applicants are kindly requested to follow the schedule below, according to the first letter of their names (in Arabic):

  • Friday: Names beginning with the letters ( أ – ب – ت – ث - ج )

  • Saturday: Names beginning with the letters ( ح – خ – د – ذ – ر - ز )

  • Sunday: Names beginning with the letters ( س – ش – ص – ض – ط - ظ )

  • Monday: Names beginning with the letters ( ع – غ – ف – ق  - ك )

  • Tuesday: Names beginning with the letters ( ل – م – ن – ه – و - ي )
