The Director of the Department of Afro-Asian and Oceania Affairs, Mr. Zakria Lababidy, met in Tokyo with Mr. Ando Toshihide, Assistant Minister and Director-General of the Middle Eastern and African Affairs Bureau at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, to discuss developments in Syria.
Mr. Lababidy expressed Syria’s appreciation for Japan’s humanitarian support and the partial lifting of sanctions, calling for their full removal in order to enhance cooperation. He also outlined the Syrian government’s orientations aimed at rebuilding and establishing a united and stable state.
For his part, Mr. Ando reaffirmed Japan’s continued support for Syria, rejecting any external interference in its internal affairs and reiterating his country’s commitment to Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. He also commended Syria for its positive steps toward a political settlement and national reconciliation.
