The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates – Statement

Damascus, 06 November 2025

The Ministry warmly welcomes the adoption of the United Nations Security Council resolution regarding Syria. This is the first resolution on Syria following the fall of the former regime. The resolution reflects the unanimous international position supporting Syria’s stability, territorial integrity, sovereignty, and political independence.

The resolution acknowledges the Syrian Government’s positive and effective role and its continued efforts to enhance regional security and stability, as well as its work to create the necessary conditions for reconstruction and sustainable development in a manner that best serves the interests of the Syrian people.

The Syrian Arab Republic highly values the resolution’s removal of President Ahmad Al-Sharaa and the Minister of Interior, Mr. Anas Khattab, from the sanctions blacklist previously imposed. This step reflects the increased confidence placed in the President’s leadership.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates affirms that this designation constitutes legal and political confirmation of the Syrian State’s unwavering commitment to upholding the rights of Syrians, maintaining civil peace, establishing international peace and security, combating drug trafficking, and fighting terrorism.

The Ministry notes that the Security Council’s adoption—after many years—of a resolution concerning Syria reflects the international community’s will to support the Syrian State’s efforts to build a new era of security, stability, and prosperity. It also represents a success for Syrian diplomacy, which has worked to restore international recognition of Syria’s standing and its pivotal role in the region.

The Syrian Arab Republic expresses its appreciation to the international community for its support of the Security Council’s efforts to build a new era of security, stability, and prosperity.
