Statement Issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the Syrian Arab Republic

Damascus, November 14, 2025 - The Syrian Arab Republic announces the reactivation of the membership of the Syrian Arab Standards and Metrology Organization (SASMO) in the Standards and Metrology Organization for Islamic Countries (SMIIC), affiliated with the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), after its membership was suspended for more than 12 years.

Reactivating this membership confirms Syria’s commitment to the international system of standards and quality, and its continuous endeavor to modernize its institutional structure in accordance with the latest global standards, in order to serve sustainable development, quality of life, and enhance the competitiveness of the national economy.
