Statement Issued by The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of The Syrian Arab Republic
The Syrian Arab Republic expresses its deep thanks and gratitude to the countries that adopted and voted in favor of the "Syrian Golan" resolution adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in New York today, December 3, 2025, and especially those countries that changed their vote from previous years.
In this context, Syria expresses its deep gratitude and appreciation to the sisterly Arab Republic of Egypt for submitting the draft resolution, and appreciates the steadfast position of the countries that continued to vote in favor of the resolution, as in previous years.
Here, the Syrian Arab Republic commends France, Ireland, Andorra, Antigua and Barbuda, Austria, Bangladesh, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Burkina Faso, Denmark, Finland, Gabon, Germany, Grenada, Guatemala, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malta, Montenegro, Nepal, the Netherlands, Nigeria, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Moldova, San Marino, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Timor-Leste, Ukraine, Tanzania, Uruguay, and Vanuatu, and those that moved in the vote from abstention to support, thus embodying their respect for international law and the Charter of the United Nations, which was and still is clear and evident on the issue of occupation and the impermissibility of acquiring territory by force.
The Syrian Arab Republic’s engagement in serious talks on technical matters that may affect its security and the security and stability of the region does not mean that it is giving up on the fact that the Golan is Syrian territory, a position it has embodied through the successful international mobilization for this resolution.
