Foreign Minister Al-Shaibani Receives Members of the National Committee Investigating the Events in Suwayda and Reaffirms Support for Its Independent Work

Foreign Minister Asaad Hassan Al-Shaibani received members of the National Committee investigating the events in Suwayda and listened to a briefing on the progress of its work.

The Committee reaffirmed its independence and adherence to professional and national standards, noting that it had collected hundreds of testimonies and statements in full confidentiality as part of its preparation for a comprehensive report.

Minister Al-Shaibani reiterated the Ministry’s full support for the Committee’s efforts and independence in uncovering the truth and ensuring accountability for any violations, underlining the importance of transparency and responsibility regarding the events in Suwayda.

He described what occurred in Suwayda as a “painful wound for Syria,” which was exploited by certain internal and external parties, emphasizing that there is no alternative to restoring security and stability, rejecting incitement and hate speech, and continuing to deliver humanitarian aid to alleviate the suffering of those affected.
