Rapprochement of Syrian-Ukrainian Diplomatic Ties

New York – At the headquarters of the United Nations, His Excellency President Ahmad Al-Sharaa of the Syrian Arab Republic met with his Ukrainian counterpart, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Mr. Asaad Hassan Al-Shaibani, along with the accompanying delegation, attended the meeting.
During the meeting, the two sides signed an agreement to restore diplomatic relations, reaffirming their commitment to advancing and strengthening friendship and cooperation between the two countries in various fields, including politics, economy, trade, humanitarian affairs, and beyond.
The agreement was signed by the Syrian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Mr. Asaad Hassan Al-Shaibani, and his Ukrainian counterpart, Mr. Andrii Sybiha, on the sidelines of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
The Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates affirmed that this step comes within the framework of the policy of openness adopted by the Ministry in the interest of the two nations.
