Jordan–Syria–U.S. Meeting in the Jordanian Capital, Amman

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Mr. Asaad Hassan Al-Shaibani, met with his Jordanian counterpart, Mr. Ayman Safadi, and the United States Special Envoy for Syria, Mr. Thomas Barrack. The meeting took place in the Jordanian capital, Amman.

During the meeting, the three parties reviewed means of enhancing cooperation and coordination among them, with a view to ensuring Syria’s sovereignty and its regional security.

The parties agreed to establish a Jordan–Syria–U.S. Working Group to support the Syrian government’s ceasefire efforts in Suwayda. The group will also work towards achieving a comprehensive solution in the governorate. The parties commended Syria’s humanitarian efforts, particularly the reactivation of basic services, the pursuit of accountability for perpetrators of abuses, and the creation of appropriate conditions for the safe return of internally displaced persons (IDPs).
