Civil Status / Marriage Registration

This service enables Syrian citizens and those considered as such to register their marriage in the host countries at the Syrian mission, then certified by the syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, and subsequently register it with the Civil Status Departments in the Syrian Arab Republic

General Instructions:

Diplomatic missions do not register marriages in foreign countries. Therefore, the couple must appoint two representatives in Syria to officially register the marriage there

Required documents


  • Marriage contract duly concluded at the competent Sharia courts and recognized in the host country, certified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the host country.
  • Two recent copies of the wife’s civil registry extract, if she is Syrian, certified by the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates (issued within the last six months).
  • A copy of the husband's ID or passport.
  • A copy of the wife's ID or passport.

Terms and conditions


The husband must be present in person if he is Syrian, or the Syrian wife if the husband is not Syrian.
