The service enables Syrian citizens or those in a similar status to register the death of their relatives in the host countries at the diplomatic mission. Later, the death is recorded with the civil registration offices in the Syrian Arab Republic.

Syrian citizens and those considered as such
The responsibility of reporting a death event lies with the spouse, or relatives up to the fourth degree (such as cousins, uncles, aunts, maternal and paternal uncles and aunts).
In the case of the death of a سyrian citizen, if a foreign death certificate is issued under the new name, the concerned parties can submit a statement to the embassy confirming that the deceased is the same person registered in the Syrian Arab records. This is done to complete the procedures for transferring the body. Upon arrival to Syria, they can obtain a court decision from the sharia court to prove the death based on the foreign documents, which will then allow the death to be registered in the civil status records in Syria.
If the deceased's relatives are unable to register the death with our mission in the country where the death occurred, the death can be registered in the Syrian civil records after obtaining an authentic death certificate issued by the relevant authorities in the country where the death occurred. This must be certified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of that country, the Syrian diplomatic mission in that country, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates in Syria.
