The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Meets the Tadamon Massacre Investigation Team

Damascus, 5 August 2025 – The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Mr. Asaad Hassan Al-Shaibani, met with the Tadamon Massacre investigation team, represented by Professor Uğur Ümit Üngör and Dr. Ali Al-Jassim. The Minister affirmed the Syrian government’s commitment to holding accountable those responsible for the crimes of the former regime, ensuring justice for the victims, and standing by their families.

His Excellency also emphasized the importance of establishing the National Commission for Transitional Justice (NCTJ) and the National Commission for Missing Persons (NCMP), highlighting their role in safeguarding the rights of the Syrian people and delivering justice to the victims.

Professor Üngör, for his part, stressed the significance of preserving the archives of the former regime’s security apparatus and the need to engage expert specialists to accelerate the process of holding its members accountable for the massacres they committed. He expressed his readiness to cooperate both academically and practically, drawing on experiences from other countries that could be applicable to the Syrian context.
