Syria Participates in the 2nd Arab-India Cooperation Forum in New Delhi

A delegation from the Syrian Arab Republic, led by Mr. Mohammad Zakaria Lababidi, Director of the Afro-Asian and Oceania Affairs Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, participated in the second session of the Ministerial Meeting of the Arab-India Cooperation Forum and the fourth session of the Senior Officials' Meeting in New Delhi. The mission aimed to bolster strategic partnership and coordination between India and the Arab states.

The Senior Officials' Meeting reviewed the draft "New Delhi Declaration" and the Executive Program for the Arab-India Cooperation Forum for the 2026–2028 period. Both documents were subsequently adopted during the Ministerial Meeting, providing a framework for institutional cooperation and the expansion of joint partnership initiatives.

On the sidelines of the ministerial session, the head of the Syrian delegation met with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who reaffirmed India's commitment to strengthening cooperation with Syria across various sectors. The delegation also held talks with the Indian Minister of External Affairs, Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, and several senior officials from the Ministry of External Affairs to discuss bilateral relations and mutual coordination.

Furthermore, the Syrian delegation engaged in meetings with various heads of participating delegations. These included discussions with the Secretary-General of the Asian-African Legal Consultative Organization (AALCO) and the Secretary-General of the African-Asian Rural Development Organization (AARDO). The delegation also contributed to a seminar on the "Global and Arab Landscape" hosted by the Indian Council of World Affairs (ICWA) and attended the inauguration of the Indo-Arab Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Agriculture (IACCIA).
