Syria Condemns Israeli Attack on Lebanon and Calls for Immediate Ceasefire

Damascus, 8 April 2026 – The Syrian Arab Republic strongly condemns the Israeli aggression against the sisterly Republic of Lebanon, which has resulted in dozens of casualties and injuries, in a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law and the principles of the Charter of the United Nations.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates underscores the necessity of an immediate ceasefire and full compliance with the relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions, in a manner that ensures the protection of civilians and respect for the sovereignty of states.

The Ministry also calls upon the international community to assume its responsibilities in addressing these violations and reaffirms Syria’s full solidarity with the sisterly Republic of Lebanon, as well as its support for the efforts of the Lebanese Government to extend its authority over all its territory and to ensure that arms remain exclusively in the hands of the state.
