Statement Issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the Syrian Arab Republic

Damascus, October 29, 2025 – A tripartite meeting was held in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, bringing together the Syrian Arab Republic, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the Republic of Kosovo. The meeting addressed ways to strengthen relations and promote mutual understanding, including the issue of mutual recognition and the development of prospects for bilateral cooperation.

In this context, the Syrian Arab Republic announces its official recognition of the Republic of Kosovo as an independent and sovereign state, based on its firm belief in the right of peoples to self-determination and its commitment to promoting the principles of peace and stability in the Balkan region and the world.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates affirms that this decision comes within the framework of the Syrian policy aimed at expanding bridges of cooperation and openness with various countries of the world, in a manner that serves common interests and strengthens friendly relations among peoples.

The Syrian Arab Republic also expresses its deep appreciation for the efforts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its constructive role in bringing viewpoints closer together and fostering dialogue and understanding, which contributed to creating the appropriate conditions for taking this decision.

Damascus looks forward to establishing diplomatic relations with the Republic of Kosovo as soon as possible, and to developing bilateral cooperation in the political, economic, and cultural fields, in a way that serves the common interests of the two friendly countries and peoples.
