Damascus, May 17, 2026 – The Syrian Arab Republic strongly condemns the terrorist attack targeting the territory of the sisterly United Arab Emirates by three drones, one of which targeted the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant.

This dangerous act constitutes a flagrant violation of international law and an escalation that threatens the security and stability of the region.

While affirming Syria’s solidarity with the United Arab Emirates, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates emphasizes that targeting civilian facilities, particularly those related to peaceful nuclear energy, represents a highly dangerous escalation.

The Ministry reiterates Syria’s full solidarity with the United Arab Emirates, affirming that the security and stability of the UAE are integral to the security and stability of the entire region.
