Strategic Cooperation Between Syria and the World Bank

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates hosted the opening session of joint technical workshops between the World Bank and Syrian government entities. In attendance were Mr. Qutaiba Qadish, Director of the International Cooperation Department at the Ministry; Mr. Mohammad Yusr Barnieh, Minister of Finance; Dr. Abdul Qader Husrieh, Governor of the Central Bank of Syria; and Mr. Jean-Christophe Carret, World Bank Country Director. Representatives from various ministries also participated in the session, which aimed to bolster institutional coordination between national authorities and the World Bank through the Department of International Cooperation.

Participants deliberated on the strategic partnership framework between the World Bank and the Syrian government, alongside proposed projects for funding within vital sectors—all in alignment with the priorities outlined in the National Recovery Plan. Moving forward, a series of technical workshops will be organized to finalize support priorities across diverse sectors.
