Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Receives Swedish Delegation in Damascus

Mr. Asaad Hassan al-Shaibani, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, received a Swedish delegation headed by Benjamin Dousa, Minister for International Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade, and Johan Forssell, Minister for Migration and Asylum Policy.

The two sides held in-depth discussions on a number of bilateral issues of common concern. They also discussed the establishment of a Syrian-Swedish Business Council with a view to enhancing economic cooperation and promoting investment in Syria, as well as ways of addressing migration issues and facilitating procedures related to refugees and Syrian expatriates.

The importance of developing bilateral diplomatic relations, strengthening communication channels between the two countries, and broadening cooperation in various fields was stressed.

The meeting further addressed issues of transitional justice and its role in supporting stability, as well as reconstruction efforts and the creation of a suitable environment for international contributions thereto.
