Foreign Minister and Expatriates Minister Holds Phone Call with His American Counterpart
The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Mr. Asaad Hassan Al-Shaibani, held a phone call with his American counterpart, Mr. Marco Rubio, during which a number of issues of mutual interest were discussed.
The call included an exchange of condolences regarding the tragic Palmyra incident, during which it was emphasized that this cowardly act represents an attempt to undermine the nascent Syrian-American relationship. The two sides also reviewed the most important bilateral issues between their two countries.
The Minister expressed his deep sorrow over this tragedy, considering it a new challenge in the fight against terrorism, and stressed the importance of Syria working in coordination with its international partners, foremost among them the United States of America, to strengthen joint efforts in this field.
Mr. Al-Shaibani conveyed the condolences of His Excellency President Ahmed Al-Sharaa to His Excellency President Donald Trump. The Minister also expressed his appreciation to the United States for its support of Syria and for its efforts to expedite the lifting of the so-called Caesar Act sanctions.
For his part, the US Secretary of State affirmed his country’s continued support for the Syrian government in various fields, including support for counterterrorism efforts, the promotion of stability, and contributing to the creation of appropriate conditions for economic recovery, in a manner that serves the interests of the Syrian people and strengthens security and peace in the region.
