The Syrian Arab Republic Rejects Mutual Recognition Between the Israeli Occupation and Somaliland and Affirms its Support for Somali Territorial Integrity

Damascus, December 27, 2025 – The Syrian Arab Republic expresses its strong condemnation and categorical rejection of the declaration of mutual recognition between the Israeli occupation authorities and the Somaliland region. It considers this step a clear violation of the principles of international law and the Charter of the United Nations, and a direct infringement upon the sovereignty, national unity, and territorial integrity of the Federal Republic of Somalia.

The Syrian Arab Republic affirms that such unilateral actions have no legal legitimacy and cannot have any international effect, as they are based on imposing a fait accompli that contradicts established norms of international relations.

The Syrian Arab Republic emphasizes that any attempts to create parallel entities or support separatist projects constitute a dangerous precedent that threatens regional security and stability, given the serious political and security repercussions they entail for the countries and peoples of the region.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates reiterates Syria’s firm position in support of the unity and sovereignty of the Federal Republic of Somalia and its absolute rejection of any efforts aimed at dismantling states or undermining their territorial integrity.
